New Zealand-based artist, Matt Griffin
Exploring his artwork, which includes not only portraits but also large-scale murals.
His art, primarily created using oil paint and aerosol spray, captivates viewers.
Matt, born and raised in New Zealand, loved drawing from a young age.
After graduating from high school, he attended university to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
However, his passion for art only grew stronger each day, and after graduating from university, he decided to pursue a life as an artist.

Matt has successfully participated in numerous group exhibitions and held two solo exhibitions.
His past exhibitions have been so popular that all of his works sold out.
In 2019, he collaborated with New Balance to paint a mural of NBA player Kawhi Leonard in Auckland, New Zealand.

At his solo exhibition, The Mascot, in May 2024, he showcased works that focused on the preservation of both culture and endangered species.

That same year, he created a mural of Travis Scott, which generated a huge response from around the world.

His art, which can look like a composite photograph, is entirely hand-painted by him from scratch.
For Matt, art is a part of who he is. His goal is not only personal fulfillment but also to make a meaningful impact on society by stimulating people’s thoughts and emotions.
He is currently focusing on preparing for activities abroad. Moving forward, he aims to engage with the global art scene, creating murals and holding solo exhibitions not only in New Zealand but around the world.
We can’t wait to see Matt’s continued growth and success!
